Musnad Ahmad — Hadith #44822

Ibrahim bin Khalid told us, Rabah told us, on the authority of Muammar, on the authority of Al-Zuhri, on the authority of Ubayd Allah bin Abdullah bin Utbah, on the authority of Abu Huraira, may God be pleased with him, said: When the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, died and whoever disbelieved disbelieved, he said, Omar bin Al-Khattab, may God be pleased with him, said: On his authority, O Abu Bakr, how do you fight people when the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: I have been commanded to fight people until they say there is no god but God. So whoever says there is no god but God, his wealth and his soul are protected from me, and his reckoning is with God Almighty, said Abu Bakr. May God be pleased with him, I will fight whoever differentiates between prayer and zakat. Indeed, zakat is the right of money, and by God, if they withheld from me a single hug, they would give it to the Messenger of God. God, may God bless him and grant him peace, I would have fought them for preventing it. Omar, may God be pleased with him, said, By God, it is only I saw that God had opened the chest of Abu Bakr, may God be pleased with him, with the fighting, so I knew that it was the truth.
