حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، حَدَّثَنَا زَائِدَةُ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ شَقِيقٍ، قَالَ لَقِيَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ الْوَلِيدَ بْنَ عُقْبَةَ فَقَالَ لَهُ الْوَلِيدُ مَا لِي أَرَاكَ قَدْ جَفَوْتَ أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عُثْمَانَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَقَالَ لَهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ أَبْلِغْهُ أَنِّي لَمْ أَفِرَّ يَوْمَ عَيْنَيْنِ قَالَ عَاصِمٌ يَقُولُ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ وَلَمْ أَتَخَلَّفْ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ وَلَمْ أَتْرُكْ سُنَّةَ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ فَانْطَلَقَ فَخَبَّرَ ذَلِكَ عُثْمَانَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ فَقَالَ أَمَّا قَوْلُهُ إِنِّي لَمْ أَفِرَّ يَوْمَ عَيْنَيْنَ فَكَيْفَ يُعَيِّرُنِي بِذَنْبٍ وَقَدْ عَفَا اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَقَالَ {إِنَّ الَّذِينَ تَوَلَّوْا مِنْكُمْ يَوْمَ الْتَقَى الْجَمْعَانِ إِنَّمَا اسْتَزَلَّهُمْ الشَّيْطَانُ بِبَعْضِ مَا كَسَبُوا وَلَقَدْ عَفَا اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ} وَأَمَّا قَوْلُهُ إِنِّي تَخَلَّفْتُ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ فَإِنِّي كُنْتُ أُمَرِّضُ رُقَيَّةَ بِنْتَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ مَاتَتْ وَقَدْ ضَرَبَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِسَهْمِي وَمَنْ ضَرَبَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِسَهْمِهِ فَقَدْ شَهِدَ وَأَمَّا قَوْلُهُ إِنِّي لَمْ أَتْرُكْ سُنَّةَ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَإِنِّي لَا أُطِيقُهَا وَلَا هُوَ فَأْتِهِ فَحَدِّثْهُ بِذَلِكَ.
Muawiyah bin Amr told us, Zaida told us, on the authority of Asim, on the authority of Shaqiq, he said: Abd al-Rahman bin Awf met al-Walid bin Uqba and said: He has the newborn. What is the matter with me? I see you have run away. Commander of the Faithful, Othman, may God be pleased with him. So Abdul Rahman said to him, “Inform him that I did not flee that day.” Two eyes. Asim said, “On the day of Uhud, I did not stay behind on the day of Badr, nor did I abandon the Sunnah of Umar, may God be pleased with him.” He said, “So he went off and told that to Uthman.” May God be pleased with him. He said: As for his saying that I did not flee on the day of Ainain, how can he reproach me for a sin when God has pardoned him? He said {Indeed, those of you who turned back on the day the two hosts met - Satan caused them to slip only for part of what they had earned, and God has certainly pardoned them} And as for His saying that I was left behind on the day of Badr, because I was nursing Ruqayyah, the daughter of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, when she died. The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, struck me with my arrow, and whoever the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, struck with his arrow, has testified. His saying, “I have not abandoned the Sunnah of Omar, may God be pleased with him, and I cannot bear it.” He did not follow it, so tell him about that.
