Hadith #46040
وعن أبي جري الهجيمي رضي الله عنه قال‏:‏ أتيت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فقلت‏:‏ عليك السلام يا رسول الله قال‏:‏ ‏ "‏لا تقل عليك السلام؛ فإن عليك السلام تحية الموتى‏"‏‏.‏ ‏(‏‏(‏رواه أبو داود، والترمذي وقال‏:‏ حديث حسن صحيح‏.‏ وقد سبق بطوله‏)‏‏)‏‏.‏
On the authority of Abu Jari al-Hujaimi, may God be pleased with him, he said: I came to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, and said: Peace be upon you, O Messenger of God. He said: “Do not say peace be upon you, for peace be upon you is the greeting of the dead.” ((Narrated by Abu Dawud and Al-Tirmidhi, who said: It is a good and authentic hadith. Its length has previously been mentioned.))
