Riyad as-Salihin — Hadith #46675

On the authority of Thawban, may God be pleased with him, he said: When the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, finished his prayer, he would ask God for forgiveness three times and say: “O God, you are peace, and from you is peace. Blessed are you, O Lord of majesty and honor.” It was said to Al-Awza’i - who is one of his narrators: How is seeking forgiveness? He said: He says: “I ask forgiveness of God, I ask forgiveness of God.” ((Narrated by Muslim)).
