حَدَّثَنَا مُعَلَّى بْنُ أَسَدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الْحَجَّاجُ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو مَطَرٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ سَالِمَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِذَا سَمِعَ الرَّعْدَ وَالصَّوَاعِقَ قَالَ: اللَّهُمَّ لاَ تَقْتُلْنَا بِصَعْقِكَ، وَلاَ تُهْلِكْنَا بِعَذَابِكَ، وَعَافِنَا قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ.
Mu’alla bin Asad narrated to us, he said: Abd al-Wahid bin Ziyad narrated to us, he said: Al-Hajjaj narrated to us, he said: Abu Matar narrated to me, that he heard Salem bin Abdullah, on the authority of his father, said: Whenever the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, heard thunder and lightning, he would say: Oh God, do not kill us. By striking you, and do not destroy us with your torment, and protect us before that.

It is reported by Salim bin Abdullah on the authority of his father (Abdullah bin Umar (ra)) that when the prophet (ﷺ) heard a thunder-clap or a thunder-bolt, he would make this supplication
