حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا الأَعْمَشُ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ قَالَ: كَانَ الرَّبِيعُ يَأْتِي عَلْقَمَةَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ، فَإِذَا لَمْ أَكُنْ ثَمَّةَ أَرْسَلُوا إِلَيَّ، فَجَاءَ مَرَّةً وَلَسْتُ ثَمَّةَ، فَلَقِيَنِي عَلْقَمَةُ وَقَالَ لِي: أَلَمْ تَرَ مَا جَاءَ بِهِ الرَّبِيعُ؟ قَالَ: أَلَمْ تَرَ أَكْثَرَ مَا يَدْعُو النَّاسَ، وَمَا أَقَلَّ إِجَابَتَهُمْ؟ وَذَلِكَ أَنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لاَ يَقْبَلُ إِلاَّ النَّاخِلَةَ مِنَ الدُّعَاءِ، قُلْتُ: أَوَ لَيْسَ قَدْ قَالَ ذَلِكَ عَبْدُ اللهِ؟ قَالَ: وَمَا قَالَ؟ قَالَ: قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ: لاَ يَسْمَعُ اللَّهُ مِنْ مُسْمِعٍ، وَلاَ مُرَاءٍ، وَلا لاعِبٍ، إِلا دَاعٍ دَعَا يَثْبُتُ مِنْ قَلْبِهِ، قَالَ: فَذَكَرَ عَلْقَمَةَ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ.
Omar bin Hafs told us, he said: My father told us, he said: Al-Amash told us, he said: Malik bin Al-Harith told me, on the authority of Abd al-Rahman bin Yazid said: Spring used to come in full bloom on Fridays, and if I was not there, they would send for me. One time, he came while I was not there. Then Alqamah met me and said to me: Did you not see what the spring brought? He said: Have you not seen the people’s supplications the most, and the least they respond? This is because God Almighty accepts only the sincere supplication. I said: Didn’t Abdullah say that? He said: And what did he say? He said: Abdullah said: God does not hear from the one who hears, nor the hypocrite, nor the one who plays, except a supplicant who prays steadfastly from his heart. He said: So he mentioned Alqamah? He said: Yes...
