حَدَّثَنَا مَطَرٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا بِسْطَامٌ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنَ قُرَّةَ قَالَ: قَالَ لِي أَبِي: يَا بُنَيَّ، إِذَا مَرَّ بِكَ الرَّجُلُ فَقَالَ: السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ، فَلاَ تَقُلْ: وَعَلَيْكَ، كَأَنَّكَ تَخُصُّهُ بِذَلِكَ وَحْدَهُ، فَإِنَّهُ لَيْسَ وَحْدَهُ، وَلَكِنْ قُلِ: السَّلامُ عَلَيْكُمْ.
Mattar told us, he said: Ruh bin Ubadah told us, he said: Bastam told us, he said: I heard Muawiyah bin Qurra said: My father said to me: Oh My son, if a man passes by you and says: Peace be upon you, do not say: And upon you, as if you were singling that out only for him, for it is not Alone, but say: Peace be upon you.
