Al-Adab Al-Mufrad — Hadith #47645

Bayan bin Amr told us, he said: Al-Nadr told us, he said: Abu Amir Al-Muzani, he is Salih bin Rustum, told us, on the authority of Ibn Abi Malika, on the authority of Ibn Abbas, who said: When Omar, may God be pleased with him, was stabbed, I was among those who carried him until we brought him into the house, and he said to me: O son of my brother, Go and see who afflicted me, and who afflicted me, so I went and came to tell him, and behold, the house was full, and I hated to go beyond. Their necks, and I was young, so I sat, and he used to order that when he sent someone with a need, he should inform him of it, and lo, he was lying down, and a heel came. He said: By God, if the Commander of the Faithful calls, God will spare him and raise him to this nation until he does such-and-such in it, until he mentions the hypocrites. So he gave his name and it was my nickname. I said: Shall I convey to him what you say? He said: I only said that I wanted you to convey it to him. So I gained courage and stood up. So I crossed their necks until I sat at his head, and said: You sent me with such-and-such, and such-and-such happened with you, thirteen, and a calamity struck. The butcher was performing ablution at the butcher shop, and Ka’b was swearing to God about such-and-such, so he said: Call Ka’b. So he was called and said: What do you say? He said: I say such-and-such. He said: No, by God, I do not pray, but Omar will be miserable if God does not forgive him.
