Al-Adab Al-Mufrad — Hadith #47611

Abu Al-Yaman told us, he said: Shuaib told us, on the authority of Al-Zuhri, he said: Ubayd Allah ibn Abdullah ibn Utbah informed me that Abdullah ibn Abbas told him that Abu Sufyan bin Harb told him: Heraclius, the king of the Romans, sent to him, then he called for a letter from the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace. Peace be upon him, which was sent with Dihya al-Kalbi to the governor of Busra, so Heraclius gave it to me and he read it, and lo and behold, it contained: In the name of God, the Most Gracious. The Most Merciful, from Muhammad, the servant of God and His Messenger, to Heraclius, the Great of Rome, peace be upon whoever follows guidance. As for what follows, I invite you With the call to Islam, submit and you will be safe. May God reward you twice. If you turn back, then upon you is the sin of the Arisians and {O People of the Book Come to a common word between us and you, to His saying: “Bear witness that we are Muslims.”
