Mishkat al-Masabih — Hadith #49550

On the authority of Amir al-Ram, he said: While we were with him, meaning at the Prophet’s, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, when a man wearing a cloak approached and in his hand was something wrapped up. upon him and said: O Messenger of God, I passed by a clearing of trees and I heard therein the sounds of a bird’s chicks, so I took them and placed them in My clothes, so their mother came and turned to my head, so I revealed them to her, and she fell on them, so I wrapped them in my clothes, so they are friends with me. He said: “Put them down.” So she put them down, but their mother refused except to stick to them. Then the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “Do you marvel at the womb of a mother of chicks, her chicks? He who sent me with the truth: God is more merciful to His servants than the mother of chicks to her chicks. Take them back until you put them back from where you took them, and their mothers are with them. “So he brought them back. Narrated by Abu Dawud.
