Hadith #50192
وَعَنْ عِيَاضِ بْنِ حِمَارٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «مَنْ وَجَدَ لُقَطَةً فَلْيُشْهِدْ ذَا عَدْلٍ أَوْ ذَوِي عَدْلٍ وَلَا يَكْتُمْ وَلَا يُغَيِّبْ فَإِنْ وَجَدَ صَاحِبَهَا فَلْيَرُدَّهَا عَلَيْهِ وَإِلَّا فَهُوَ مَالُ اللَّهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَنْ يَشَاءُ» . رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَأَبُو دَاوُدَ وَالدَّارِمِيُّ
On the authority of Iyadh bin Himar, he said: The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: “Whoever finds a spot, let a just man or people testify and not conceal it.” He does not hide it, and if he finds its owner, he should return it to him. Otherwise, it is the property of God. He gives it to whomever He wishes.” Narrated by Ahmed and Abu Dawood And Al-Darimi
