Mishkat al-Masabih — Hadith #51639

On the authority of Zainab, the wife of Abdullah bin Masoud, that Abdullah saw a thread around my neck and said: What is this? So I said: A thread on which a ruqyah was made for me. She said: So he took it and cut it, then said: You, the family of Abdullah, are free from polytheism. I heard the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace. May God bless him and grant him peace. He says: “Indeed Ruqyah, amulets, and charms are polytheism.” So I said: Why do you say that? My eyes were vomiting and I was talking to so-and-so, a Jew. When he said the qiyyah to them, they would calm down. Abdullah said: That was the work of Satan. He pricks it with his hand, and when he recites it, he stops it.
