Mishkat al-Masabih — Hadith #51160

On the authority of Al-Baraa bin Azib, he said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, performed Umrah in Dhul-Qa’dah, but the people of Mecca refused to let him enter Mecca. Until he judged them to enter, meaning from the following year, to reside there for three days. When they wrote the letter, they wrote: This is what he judged. Muhammad, the Messenger of God, be upon him. They said: We do not acknowledge it. If we knew that you are the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, we would not have prevented you, but you are Muhammad bin Abdullah. He said: “I am the Messenger of “God, and I am Muhammad bin Abdullah.” Then he said to Ali bin Abi Talib: “Erase: Messenger of God.” He said: No, by God, I will never erase you. Then the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, and he was not good at writing, took it and wrote: “This is what Muhammad bin Abdullah: He should not enter Mecca with weapons except the sword in a bag, and he should not expel anyone from its people if he wants to follow him or “None of its companions will prevent him from staying there.” So when he entered it and the time had passed, they came to Ali and said: Tell your companion: Leave us, for he has The time passed, and the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, left.
