وَعَن جابرٍ أنَّ رسولَ الله جَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ يَسْتَطْعِمُهُ فَأَطْعَمَهُ شَطْرَ وَسَقِ شَعِيرٍ فَمَا زَالَ الرَّجُلُ يَأْكُلُ مِنْهُ وَامْرَأَتُهُ وَضَيْفُهُمَا حَتَّى كَالَهُ فَفَنِيَ فَأَتَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: «لَوْ لَمْ تَكِلْهُ لَأَكَلْتُمْ مِنْهُ ولقام لكم» رَوَاهُ مُسلم
And on the authority of Jabir, that a man came to the Messenger of God asking for food, so he fed him half a wasq of barley, and the man continued to eat from it, along with his wife and their guest, until he ate it. Then it failed, so he came to the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and said: “If you had not eaten it, you would have eaten from it and it would have been there for you.” Narrated by Muslim.
