Abu Kurayb told us, Hafs bin Ghayath told us, on the authority of Al-Amash, on the authority of Abu Ishaq, on the authority of Abu Al-Ahwas, on the authority of Abdullah bin Masoud, he said The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “Islam began as something strange and will return to being something strange as it began, so blessed are the strangers.” And on the authority of Saad And Ibn Omar, Jabir, Anas, and Abdullah bin Amr. Abu Issa said: This is a good, authentic, and strange hadith from the hadith of Ibn Masoud. We know him from the hadith of Hafs bin Ghayath on the authority of Al-Amash and Abu Al-Ahwas. His name is Awf bin Malik bin Nadlah Al-Jashmi, and Hafs was unique in his name.
