Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #29226

Ahmad ibn Mani` narrated to us, Ishaq ibn Yusuf al-Azraq narrated to us, Dawud ibn Abi Hind narrated to us, on the authority of al-Sha`bi, on the authority of Masruq, he said I was Reclining next to Aisha, she said, O Abu Aisha, there are three people who speak of one of them, the greatest libel against God is the one who claims that Muhammad saw his Lord, so he committed the greatest slander against God, and God says: (Sights will not overtake Him, but He overtakes sights, and He is the Gentle. The All-Aware, (It is not for a human being that God should speak to him except by revelation or from behind a veil.) And I was reclining, then I sat up and said, O mother Believers, wait for me and do not hasten with me. Doesn’t God say: (And He has already seen it at another revelation), (And He has certainly seen it with the clear horizon) she said. By God, I am the first to ask about this. The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: “That was Gabriel. I did not see him in the form in which he was created.” Other than these two times, I saw him descending from the sky, covering the greatness of his creation between the heavens and the earth.” And whoever claims that Muhammad concealed something Of what God has revealed to him, he has committed the greatest slander against God. God says: (O Messenger, convey what was revealed. to you from your Lord.) And whoever claims that he knows what is in tomorrow has committed the greatest libel against God, and God says: (Say: He who is in The heavens and the earth, the unseen except Allah). Abu Issa said: This is a hasan and authentic hadith. Masruq ibn al-Ajda’ is nicknamed Abu Aisha, and he is Masruq bin Abdul Rahman, and this is his name in the Diwan.
