Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #28769

Qutaibah told us, Abbad bin Abbad Al-Muhallabi told us, on the authority of Abu Jamrah, on the authority of Ibn Abbas, he said: The delegation of Abdul Qais came to the Messenger of God May God’s prayers and peace be upon him. They said, “This is the neighborhood of Rabi’ah, and we do not reach you except during the sacred months, so order us something that we may take from you.” And we call to him from behind us. He said, “I command you to do four things: faith in God.” Then he explained them to them as testimony that there is no god but God and that I Messenger of God, and to establish prayer and to pay zakat, and to give back a fifth of what you have spoiled.” Qutaibah told us, Hammad bin Zayd told us, On the authority of Abu Jamrah, on the authority of Ibn Abbas, on the authority of the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, the same. Abu Issa said: This is a good and authentic hadith, and his name is Abu Jamrah al-Dhabi. Nasr bin Imran. Shu’bah also narrated it on the authority of Abu Jamrah and added to it: Do you know what faith is the testimony that there is no god but God? And I am the Messenger of God, and he mentioned the hadith. I heard Qutayba bin Saeed saying, “I have never seen anything like these four nobles, Malik bin Anas.” And Al-Layth bin Saad, Abbad bin Abbad Al-Muhallabi, and Abd Al-Wahhab Al-Thaqafi. Qutaibah said: We were content to return from Abbad every day with two hadiths, and Abbad bin Abbad is from the descendants of Al-Muhallab bin Abi Safra.
