Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #29105

Abu Bakr bin Abi Al-Nadr Al-Baghdadi told us, he said, Ali bin Al-Hassan, he is the son of a brother, told us, on the authority of Abdullah bin Al-Mubarak, on the authority of Muammar, on the authority of Samak ibn al-Fadl, on the authority of Wahb ibn Munabbih, on the authority of Abdullah ibn Amr, that the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said to him, “Read the Qur’an.” “In forty.” Abu Issa said, “This is a good and strange hadith.” Some of them narrated on the authority of Ma’mar, on the authority of Samak ibn al-Fadl, on the authority of Wahb. Ibn Munabbih reported that the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, ordered Abdullah Ibn Amr to recite the Qur’an in forty days.
