Hadith #28572
Suwayd bin Nasr told us, Abdullah bin Al-Mubarak told us, on the authority of Abdul Wahhab bin Al-Ward, on the authority of a man, from the people of Medina, who said Muawiyah wrote to Aisha, the Mother of the Believers, may God be pleased with her, “Write to me a letter in which you advise me and do not speak ill of me.” So Aisha wrote to Reza. May God’s peace be upon you from her to Mu’awiyah. As for what follows, I heard the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, saying, “Whoever seeks God’s satisfaction through the people’s displeasure, God will suffice him with the people’s support.” And whoever seeks people’s approval by the wrath of God, God will entrust him to the people.” And peace be upon you. Tell us. Muhammad bin Yahya, Muhammad bin Yusuf told us, on the authority of Sufyan al-Thawri, on the authority of Hisham bin Urwa, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Aisha, that She wrote to Muawiyah, and he mentioned the hadith in its meaning, but did not narrate it.
