حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلاَنَ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم
" قَدْ كَانَ يَكُونُ فِي الأُمَمِ مُحَدَّثُونَ فَإِنْ يَكُ فِي أُمَّتِي أَحَدٌ فَعُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ " . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ .وَ أَخْبَرَنِي بَعْضُ أَصْحَابِ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ قَالَ قَالَ سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ مُحَدَّثُونَ يَعْنِي مُفَهَّمُونَ .
Qutaibah narrated to us, he said, Al-Layth narrated to us, on the authority of Ibn Ajlan, on the authority of Saad bin Ibrahim, on the authority of Abu Salamah, on the authority of Aisha, she said: The Messenger said: God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, “There were scholars of hadith among the nations, but if there is anyone among my nation, then it is Omar ibn al-Khattab.” Abu Issa said this is a hadith. Hassan Sahih. Some of Sufyan bin Uyaynah’s companions told me, “Sufyan bin Uyaynah said, ‘They are hadith scholars’, meaning they are understood.
