Hadith #37848
وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللّهِ ﷺ مَرَّ بِقَبْرٍ دُفِنَ لَيْلًا فَقَالَ: «مَتَى دُفِنَ هذَا؟» قَالُوا: الْبَارِحَةَ. قَالَ: «أَفَلَا اذَنْتُمُونِىْ؟» قَالُوا: دَفَنَّاهُ فِىْ ظُلْمَةِ اللَّيْلِ فَكَرِهْنَا أَنْ نُوقِظَكَ فَقَامَ فَصَفَفْنَا خَلْفَه فَصَلّى عَلَيْهِ. (مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ)
On the authority of Ibn Abbas, the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, passed by a grave that had been buried at night and said: “When was this person buried?” They said: Yesterday. He said: “Did you not inform me?” They said: We buried him in the darkness of the night, and we did not like to wake you, so he got up, so we lined up behind him and prayed over him. (agreed)
