Riyad as-Salihin — Hadith #39077

On the authority of Abu Bakr, may God be pleased with him, that a man was mentioned to the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and a man praised him well, so the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: “Woe to you! You cut the neck of your companion.” He says it repeatedly, “And if one of you is inevitably praising, then let him say: I think such-and-such if he sees that it is so, and God will judge him, and he will not purify anyone before God.” ((Agreed upon)).
