Mishkatul Masabih — Hadith #40158
Hadith #40158
He said, When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went on a journey (i.e. outside the city) (whether as a traveler or a resident) and wanted to perform the Nafl prayer, he would turn the camel's face towards the Qiblah and say Tahrimah in the takbeer towards the direction of the rider. He used to pray with his face facing that way. (Abu Dawud) [1]
