Hadith #44670
حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَقُولُ لِعَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ وَطَلْحَةَ وَالزُّبَيْرِ وَسَعْدٍ نَشَدْتُكُمْ بِاللَّهِ الَّذِي تَقُومُ السَّمَاءُ وَالْأَرْضُ بِهِ أَعَلِمْتُمْ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّا لَا نُورَثُ مَا تَرَكْنَا صَدَقَةٌ قَالُوا اللَّهُمَّ نَعَمْ.
Sufyan told us, on the authority of Amr, on the authority of Al-Zuhri, on the authority of Malik ibn Aws, who said: I heard Omar, may God be pleased with him, saying to Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf: And Talha, Al-Zubayr, and Saad, I called upon you by God, by whom the heavens and the earth are established. Did you know that the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him? He said, “We do not inherit anything we leave as charity.” They said, “Oh God, yes.”
