Hadith #46248
عن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه قال‏:‏ أوصاني خليلي صلى الله عليه وسلم بصيام ثلاثة أيام من كل شهر، وركعتي الضحى، وأن أوتر قبل أن أرقد‏"‏ ‏.‏ ‏(‏‏(‏متفق عليه‏)‏‏)‏ والإيتار قبل النوم إنما يستحب لمن لا يثق باستيقاظ آخر الليل، فإن وثق فآخر الليل أفضل‏.‏
On the authority of Abu Hurairah, may God be pleased with him, he said: My friend, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, advised me to fast three days of every month, pray the two rak’ahs of Duha, and pray Witr before I go to bed. ((Agreed upon)) It is preferable for someone who does not trust himself to wake up at the end of the night, but if he is confident, then the end of the night is better
