Riyad as-Salihin — Hadith #46384

On the authority of Abu Darda, may God be pleased with him, he said, I heard the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, say: “Whoever follows a path seeking knowledge, God will make easy for him a path to Paradise, and the angels lower their wings for the seeker of knowledge in satisfaction with what he has done, and the scholar seeks forgiveness from him from all who are in the heavens and the earth, even the fish in the water. The superiority of the scholar over the worshiper is like the superiority of the moon over all the planets. Indeed, scholars are the heirs of the prophets, and the prophets did not They inherited neither a dinar nor a dirham, but they inherited knowledge. Whoever takes it will take an abundant share” ((Narrated by Abu Dawud and Al-Tirmidhi)).
