Riyad as-Salihin — Hadith #46599

On the authority of Abu Al-Juhaim Abdullah bin Al-Harith bin Al-Samah Al-Ansari, may God be pleased with him, who said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “If the one who is praying in the middle knew what he had to do, it would be better for him to stop for forty than to pass in front of him.” ((The narrator said: I do not know whether he said forty days, or forty months, or forty years)).
