حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَسْلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ، عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ قَالَ: قَالَ أَبِي: انْطَلَقْتُ فِي وَفْدِ بَنِي عَامِرٍ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم، فَقَالُوا: أَنْتَ سَيِّدُنَا، قَالَ: السَّيِّدُ اللَّهُ، قَالُوا: وَأَفْضَلُنَا فَضْلاً، وَأَعْظَمُنَا طَوْلاً، قَالَ: فَقَالَ: قُولُوا بِقَوْلِكُمْ، وَلاَ يَسْتَجْرِيَنَّكُمُ الشَّيْطَانُ.
Musaddad narrated to us, he said: Bishr ibn al-Fadl narrated to us, he said: Abu Maslamah narrated to us, on the authority of Abu Nadra, on the authority of Mutarrif, who said: My father said: I set out with the Bani Amir delegation to the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace. They said: You are our master. He said: The Master is God. They said: And the best of us. Excellent, and the greatest of us in length, he said: So he said: Speak what you say, and do not let Satan tempt you.
