حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ بُشَيْرِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ مَوْلَى الأَنْصَارِ، عَنْ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ، وَسَهْلِ بْنِ أَبِي حَثْمَةَ، أَنَّهُمَا حَدَثَا، أَوْ حَدَّثَاهُ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ سَهْلٍ، وَمُحَيِّصَةَ بْنَ مَسْعُودٍ، أَتَيَا خَيْبَرَ فَتَفَرَّقَا فِي النَّخْلِ، فَقُتِلَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَهْلٍ، فَجَاءَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ سَهْلٍ، وَحُوَيِّصَةُ وَمُحَيِّصَةُ ابْنَا مَسْعُودٍ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم، فَتَكَلَّمُوا فِي أَمْرِ صَاحِبِهِمْ، فَبَدَأَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، وَكَانَ أَصْغَرَ الْقَوْمِ، فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم: كَبِّرِ الْكِبَرَ، قَالَ يَحْيَى: لِيَلِيَ الْكَلاَمَ الأَكْبَرُ، فَتَكَلَّمُوا فِي أَمْرِ صَاحِبِهِمْ. فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم: اسْتَحِقُّوا قَتِيلَكُمْ، أَوْ قَالَ: صَاحِبَكُمْ، بِأَيْمَانِ خَمْسِينَ مِنْكُمْ، قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَمْرٌ لَمْ نَرَهُ، قَالَ: فَتُبْرِئُكُمْ يَهُودُ بِأَيْمَانِ خَمْسِينَ مِنْهُمْ، قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، قَوْمٌ كُفَّارٌ. فَفَدَاهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم مِنْ قِبَلِهِ.
Suleiman bin Harb told us, he said: Hammad bin Zaid told us, on the authority of Yahya bin Saeed, on the authority of Bashir bin Yasar, the client of the Ansar, on the authority of Rafi’ Ibn Khadij and Sahl Ibn Abi Hathamah, that they narrated, or they narrated to him, that Abdullah Ibn Sahl and Muhayizah Ibn Masoud came to Khaybar. So they dispersed among the palm trees, and Abdullah bin Sahl was killed, so Abdul Rahman bin Sahl, Huwayisa and Muhaisah ibn Masoud came to the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace. He greeted them, so they talked about the matter of their friend, so Abdul Rahman started, and he was the youngest of the people, and the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said to him: The arrogance was great. Yahya said: “Night is the greatest speech.” So they spoke about the matter of their friend. Then the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “Deserve your murderer, or He said: Your friend, with the oath of fifty of you. They said: O Messenger of God, something we have not seen. He said: Then the Jews will exonerate you.
