حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ‏:‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم‏:‏ لاَ تَقُولُوا لِلْمُنَافِقِ‏:‏ سَيِّدٌ، فَإِنَّهُ إِنْ يَكُ سَيِّدَكُمْ فَقَدْ أَسْخَطْتُمْ رَبَّكُمْ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ‏.‏
Ali bin Abdullah told us, he said: Muadh bin Hisham told us, he said: My father told me, on the authority of Qatada, on the authority of Abdullah bin Buraidah, on the authority of His father said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: Do not call the hypocrite, “Master,” for if he is your master, then you have angered your Lord, the Mighty and Majestic.
