Mishkat al-Masabih — Hadith #49065

On the authority of Abu Hurairah, on the authority of the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, he said: “A man was among us in a desert piece of land, and he heard a voice in a cloud, watering so-and-so’s garden, so he stepped aside. That cloud emptied its water into a clearing, and behold, a bubble from that bubble had absorbed all that water, so it trailed off. The water, then a man was standing in his garden, turning the water with his wipes, and he said to him, “O Abdullah, what is your name?” He said to him, “O Abdullah, why did you ask me?” Concerning my name, he said, “Indeed, I heard a voice in the clouds from which this is the water, saying, ‘Irrigate so-and-so’s garden for your name. What will you do to it?’ He said, ‘But when You said this, because I look at what comes out of it, and I give a third of it in charity, and I and my family eat a third, and I put a third of it back in it.” Narrated by Muslim
