Mishkat al-Masabih — Hadith #49068

On the authority of a servant of Uthman, may God be pleased with him, he said: A piece of meat was given to Umm Salama as a gift, and the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, liked meat, so she said to the servant: Put it in the house, perhaps the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, would eat it. So I put it in the window of the house. A beggar came and stood up At the door, he said: Give alms, may God bless you. They said: May God bless you. So the questioner left, and the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, entered and said: “O Umm Salamah, do you have anything that I can feed him?” . She said: Yes. She said to the servant: Go, and the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, came. He greeted that meat. So she went and did not find anything in the hatch except a piece of marwa. The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “For that meat became marwa again when you did not give it to the beggar.” Narrated by Al-Bayhaqi in Evidence of Prophethood
