Hadith #51728
وَعَنْ عَبْدِاللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «كَيْفَ بِكَ إِذَا أُبْقِيتَ فِي حُثَالَةٍ مِنَ النَّاسِ مَرَجَتْ عُهُودُهُمْ وَأَمَانَاتُهُمْ؟ وَاخْتَلَفُوا فَكَانُوا هَكَذَا؟» وَشَبَّكَ بَيْنَ أَصَابِعِهِ. قَالَ: فَبِمَ تَأْمُرُنِي؟ قَالَ: «عَلَيْكَ بِمَا تَعْرِفُ وَدَعْ مَا تُنْكِرُ وَعَلَيْكَ بِخَاصَّةِ نَفْسِكَ وَإِيَّاكَ وَعَوَامِّهِمْ» . وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ: «الْزَمْ بَيْتَكَ وَأَمْلِكْ عَلَيْكَ لِسَانَكَ وَخُذْ مَا تَعْرِفُ وَدَعْ مَا تُنْكِرُ وَعَلَيْكَ بِأَمْرِ خَاصَّةِ نَفْسِكَ ودع أَمر الْعَامَّة» . رَوَاهُ التِّرْمِذِيّ وَصَححهُ
On the authority of Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-Aas, the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: “How would you be if you were left among the scum of people? Their covenants and trusts? And they disagreed and were like this? He interlaced his fingers. He said: What do you command me to do? He said: “Do what you know and leave.” “Whatever you disapprove of, it is against you, especially against yourself and against you and the common people.” And in a narration: “Stay at home, control your tongue, take what you know and leave what you disapprove of, and you must deal with a matter specific to yourself and leave the matter of the public.” Narrated by Al-Tirmidhi and authenticated
