Qutaibah narrated to us, Al-Layth narrated to us, on the authority of Aqeel, on the authority of Al-Zuhri, on the authority of Sa’id bin Al-Musayyab, on the authority of Abu Hurairah, that the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said “Who He said, “On Friday, while the imam is delivering the sermon, listen, for he has neglected.” He said, and on the authority of Ibn Abi Awfa and Jabir bin Abd. God. Abu Issa said the hadith of Abu Hurairah is a good and authentic hadith. And it is acted upon according to the people of knowledge. They dislike a man to speak. And the imam was giving the sermon, and they said, “If someone else speaks, he should not be denounced except by pointing.” They disagreed about returning the greeting and praising the one who sneezes. While the imam is delivering the sermon, some scholars have given permission to return the greeting and gloat over the sneezer while the imam is delivering the sermon. This is the view of Ahmad and Ishaq. Some scholars, including the Tabi’een and others, disliked that, and this is the view of Al-Shafi’i.
