Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #28668

Sufyan bin Waki’ told us, Abd al-Rahman bin Mahdi told us, on the authority of Harb bin Shaddad, on the authority of Yahya bin Abi Kathir, on the authority of Ya’ish bin Al-Walid said that Al-Zubayr’s servant told him that Al-Zubayr bin Al-Awwam told him that the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “The disease of the nations has come upon you.” Before you, envy and hatred are the shavings. I do not say shaving the hair, but shaving the debt. By the One in whose hand is my soul, you will not enter Paradise until you believe. And do not believe until you love one another. Shall I not inform you of what will confirm that for you? Spread peace among yourselves.” Abu Issa said. This is a hadith. They differed regarding its narration on the authority of Yahya bin Abi Kathir. Some of them narrated it on the authority of Yahya bin Abi Kathir, on the authority of Ya’ish bin Al-Waleed, on the authority of Al-Zubayr’s servant, on the authority of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and they did not mention in it on the authority of Al-Zubayr.
