Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #28864

Qutaibah narrated to us, Al-Layth narrated to us, on the authority of Ibn Ajlan, on the authority of Sa’id al-Maqbari, on the authority of Abu Hurairah, that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “If If one of you comes to a meeting, let him say the salutation. If it seems to him that he should sit, let him sit, then when he gets up, let him say the salutation, for the first is not more deserving. From the afterlife.” Abu Issa said, “This is a good hadith.” This hadith was also narrated on the authority of Ibn Ajlan, on the authority of Sa’id al-Maqbari, on the authority of His father, on the authority of Abu Hurairah, on the authority of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace.
