Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #28959

Al-Qasim bin Dinar Al-Kufi told us, Mus’ab bin Al-Miqdam told us, on the authority of Al-Hasan bin Salih, on the authority of Laith bin Abi Sulaym, on the authority of Tawoos, on the authority of Jabir, that the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “Whoever believes in God and the Last Day should not enter the bathroom without a garment. He who believes in God and the Last Day should not let his intimate partner enter the bathroom, and whoever believes in God and the Last Day should not sit at a table being attended to. “She should be given wine.” Abu Issa said: This is a good and strange hadith. We do not know of it from the hadith of Tawus on the authority of Jabir except from this route. He said Muhammad bin Ismail Laith bin Abi Sulaym is truthful and perhaps he is interested in the matter. Muhammad bin Ismail said, and Ahmad bin Hanbal Laith said, No. He rejoiced in his speech. Laith used to raise things that no one else could raise, so they made him weak.
