Jami' at-Tirmidhi — Hadith #29313

Abu Sa`id al-Ashjaj narrated to us, and Abu Musa Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna narrated to us, saying: Ibn Idris narrated to us, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Samak ibn Harb, on the authority of Alqamah Ibn Wa'il, on the authority of Al-Mughirah Ibn Shu'bah, he said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, sent me to Najran, and they said to me: Do you not recite: (O Sister of Aaron) There was something going on between Jesus and Moses, and I did not know how to answer them. So I returned to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, and told him, and he said: Didn’t you tell them that they were named after their prophets and the righteous before them?” Abu Issa said: This is a good and authentic hadith. It is strange and we do not know it except from the hadith of Ibn Idris.
