Musnad Ahmad — Hadith #45069

Sufyan told us, on the authority of Amr, he said, Hassan bin Muhammad bin Ali told me, Ubaid Allah bin Abi Rafi’ told me, and he said, once that Ubaid Allah Ibn Abi Rafi’ told him that he heard Ali, may God be pleased with him, say that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, sent me. Al-Zubayr and Al-Miqdad, and he said, “Go until you come to Rawdat Khakh, for therein is a woman who has a letter, so take it from her.” So we set out, and we quarreled. We rode on until we came to Al-Rawdah, and suddenly we were at Al-Dha'inah. We said, "Take out the book." She said, "I have no book with me." We said, "Let you take it out." The book, or let us turn the clothes around. He said, so she took the book out of its handles, so we took the book and brought it to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace. When he greeted it, he saw from Hatib bin Abi Balta’ah to some of the polytheists in Mecca informing them of some matter of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace. The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “O Hatib, what is this?” He said, “Do not be hasty on me, for I was a man attached to the Quraysh and I was not From themselves, and those who were with you among the emigrants had relatives who protected their families in Mecca, so I loved it since I missed that. It is among my lineage among them that I take a hand with them to protect my kinship, and I did not do that out of disbelief, nor apostasy from my religion, nor consent to disbelief after that. Islam, and the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “He has told you the truth.” Omar, may God be pleased with him, said, “Let me cut off the head of this man.” The hypocrite, and he said that he had witnessed Badr, and how do you know? Perhaps God had looked at the people of Badr and said, “Do whatever you wish, for I have forgiven you.”
