Musnad Ahmad — Hadith #44719

Abu Nuh narrated to us, Qarad narrated to us, Ikrimah bin Ammar narrated to us, Samak Al-Hanafi Abu Zumail narrated to us, Ibn Abbas narrated to me, Omar narrated to me, he said when It was the day of Badr. He said, the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, looked at his companions, who were three hundred and a half, and looked at The polytheists, and behold, they were a thousand and more. Then the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, faced the Qiblah, then he extended his hand, and he was wearing his robe and garment, then He said: Oh God, fulfill what you promised me. Oh God, fulfill what you promised me. Oh God, if this band of people of Islam are destroyed, then do not You will never be worshiped on earth. He said, and he continued to seek help from his Lord and pray to Him until his robe fell off, so Abu Bakr came to him, took his robe, and put it back on. He followed him behind him and then said, O Prophet of God, suffice it with your appeal to your Lord, for He will fulfill for you what He promised you, and God Almighty revealed {When You sought help from your Lord, and He responded to you. Indeed, I will assist you with a thousand angels, following one another.} So when that day came and they met, God was defeated. The polytheists, and seventy of them were killed and seventy of them were captured. So the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, consulted Abu Bakr. And Ali and Omar, and Abu Bakr said, O Prophet of God, these are the sons of the paternal uncle, the clan, and the brothers. I think that you should take the ransom from them. So what we took from them will be our strength against the disbelievers, and perhaps God Almighty will guide them so that they will be a support for us, so the Messenger of God said May God’s prayers and peace be upon him. What do you see, Ibn Al-Khattab? He said, “By God, I do not see what Abu Bakr saw, but I think that you will enable me to meet so-and-so who is close.” Omar, so he beheaded him, and Ali gained power over Aqeel, so he beheaded him, and Hamza empowered so-and-so, his brother, so he beheaded him until God knows that there is no tolerance in our hearts for the polytheists, these are their leaders, their imams, and their leaders, so the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, fell in love with them. He accepted what Abu Bakr said, but he did not like what I said, so he took the ransom from them, and when it was the next day, Omar, may God be pleased with him, said I went to the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and found him sitting and Abu Bakr, and they were crying. I said, O Messenger of God, tell me what happened. He makes you and your friend cry. If I find crying, I cry, and if I do not find crying, I cry because of your crying. He said, the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said. And the one who offered your companions the ransom was offered to me, and your torment was presented to me closer than this tree to a nearby tree, and God Almighty sent down {It is not for a prophet to have captives until he has made war in the land} up to his saying {He touched you for what you took} of redemption. Then the spoils were made permissible for them, and when it was the day of Uhud of the following year, they were punished for what they had done on the day of Badr, in that they had taken the ransom, and some of them were killed. Seventy. The Companions of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, fled from the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and his quadrilateral was broken. The egg smashed on his head, and blood ran down his face, so God revealed {When a calamity befalls you, you have certainly befallen the like of it} to His saying {Indeed, God has power over all things} by your ransom.
