Hadith #46291
وعن ابن عباس رضي الله عنهما قال‏:‏ قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏ "‏ لا تصوموا قبل رمضان صوموا لرؤيته وأفطروا لرؤيته، فإن حالت دونه فأكملوا ثلاثين يومًا‏"‏ ‏(‏‏(‏رواه الترمذي وقال حديث حسن صحيح‏.‏
On the authority of Ibn Abbas, may God be pleased with them both, he said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said “Do not fast before Ramadan. Fast when you see it and break your fast when you see it. If it prevents you from seeing it, then complete thirty days.” (Narrated by Al-Tirmidhi, who said it is a good and authentic hadith.)
