Hadith #46550
On the authority of Ibn Omar, may God be pleased with them both, he said: Saad bin Ubadah, may God be pleased with him, complained, so the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, came to visit him with Abd al-Rahman bin Awf, Saad bin Abi Waqqas, and Abdullah bin Masoud, may God be pleased with them. When he entered upon him, he found him in a trance and said: “Should I make up my mind?” They said: No, O Messenger of God, so the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, cried when he saw it. The people cried when the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, cried. He said: “Don’t you hear? God does not punish with tears of the eye, nor with sadness of the heart, but He punishes because of this,” and he pointed to his tongue, “or has mercy” ((Agreed upon)).
