Riyad as-Salihin — Hadith #46553

On the authority of Aisha, may God be pleased with her, she said: The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, asked people about soothsayers, and he said: “They are nothing.” They said: O Messenger of God, they sometimes tell us something, so is it true? So the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: “That word of truth is snatched by the genie. He reads it into the ear of his guardian, and they mix with it a hundred lies.” ((Agreed upon)). And in a narration by Al-Bukhari on the authority of Aisha, may God be pleased with her, said that she heard the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, saying: “The angels descend in the clouds - which is the clouds - so remember the matter has been decided in the sky, and Satan will eavesdrop and hear it, so he will suggest it to the soothsayers, and they will tell a hundred lies of their own accord with it.” He throws it, “and the rein,” by opening the eye.
