Hadith #46633
عن عليّ رضي الله عنه قال‏:‏ حفظت عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏:‏ ‏ "‏لا يتم بعد احتلام، ولا صمات يوم إلى الليل‏"‏‏.‏ قال الخطابي في تفسير هذا الحديث‏:‏ كان من نسك الجاهلية الصمات، فنهوا في الإسلام عن ذلك، وأمروا بالذكر والحديث بالخير‏.‏
On the authority of Ali, may God be pleased with him, he said: I memorized from the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace: “No wet dream or fasting from day to night shall be completed.” Al-Khattabi said in his interpretation of this hadith: One of the rituals of pre-Islamic times was fasting, so in Islam they forbade that, and they commanded good remembrance and hadith.
