حَدَّثَنَا صَدَقَةُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُنْكَدِرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ: وُلِدَ لِرَجُلٍ مِنَّا غُلاَمٌ فَسَمَّاهُ: الْقَاسِمَ، فَقُلْنَا: لاَ نُكَنِّيكَ أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ وَلاَ كَرَامَةَ، فَأُخْبِرَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ: سَمِّ ابْنَكَ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ.
Sadaqah told us, he said: Ibn Uyaynah told us, he said: Ibn al-Munkadir told us, on the authority of Jabir, who said: A boy was born to a man among us, so he named him: Al-Qasim, so we said: We do not call you Abu Al-Qasim, and there is no dignity. So the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, was informed and said: Name your son Abd. The Most Gracious
