Mishkat al-Masabih — Hadith #48824

On the authority of Al-Baraa bin Azib, he said: We went out with the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, to the funeral of a man from the Ansar, and we ended up at the grave. Then the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, sat down and we sat around him as if there were birds on our heads and in his hand was a stick with which he was scratching the ground. Then he raised his head and said: “Seek refuge in God from the torment of the grave” two or three times, then he said: “If the believing servant is in a state of This world and the arrival of the Hereafter, angels descended to him from the sky with white faces as if their faces were the sun, with them a shroud of shrouds. Paradise and some of the spices of Paradise until they sit from it as far as the eye can see. Then the Angel of Death comes and sits at his head and says: O good soul, come out to God’s forgiveness and satisfaction.” He said: “Then it comes out, flowing just as a drop flows from a waterskin, and he takes it, and lo! He took it and did not leave it in his hand for the blink of an eye until they had taken it and put it in that shroud and in that spices and he came out of it. Like the finest scent of musk found on the face of the earth.” He said: “Then they ascend with it, but they do not pass - meaning - over a group of angels except They said: What is this? The good spirit, and they say: So-and-so, son of so-and-so, with the best of his names that they used to call him in this world, until they end up with it to the heaven of this world, and they ask for an opening for him, and it is opened. And He will send him on his way from each heaven, to the next heaven, until he ends up with it to the seventh heaven - and he says God Almighty: Write the letter of My servant in Aliyin and return him to the earth, for from it I created them, and to it I will return them, and from it I will bring them out another time. He said: “Then his soul returned, and two angels came to him and made him sit, and they said to him: Who is your Lord? He said: My Lord, God. Then they said to him: What is your religion? He said: My religion.” Islam, so they say to him: Who is this man who was sent among you? He says: He is the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace. They say to him: What is your knowledge? So he says: I read the Book of God and believed in it and spoke the truth. Then a herald from heaven calls out, “He has spoken the truth, so make a bed for him from Paradise and clothe him from Paradise and open for him a door to Paradise.” He said: “And some of its spirit and perfume will come to him and his grave will be widened for him as far as the eye can see.” He said: “ A man with a beautiful face, well-dressed, and a pleasant scent comes to him and says: “Rejoice in what will please you. This is the day you were promised.” So he says to him: “Who are you?” Your face is the face He brings goodness and says: I am your righteous deed. Then he says: My Lord, establish the Hour. My Lord, establish the Hour until I return to my family and my property. He said: “And indeed When the disbeliever servant is cut off from this world and is approaching the Hereafter, angels with black faces descend to him from heaven. of sackcloth, and they sit therein as far as the eye can see. Then the angel of death comes and sits at his head and says: O evil soul, come out. To the wrath of God. He said: Then they were dispersed throughout his body, and he snatched them just as he snatches a piece of wet wool and took it. When he took it, they did not leave it in his hand for a blink. spring until they put it in those sackcloths and out of it comes out as the smell of a carrion found on the face of the earth, and they go up with it but do not pass by it on A group of angels said: What is this evil spirit? They say: So-and-so, son of So-and-so - by the ugliest of his names by which he was called in the world. The world - until it reaches the lowest heaven and it is opened for him, but it is not opened for him. Then the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, recited (It will not be opened for them. the gates of heaven, and they will not enter Paradise until the camel passes through the eye of the tailor.) Then God Almighty says: Write His book in He was imprisoned in the lowest earth, and his soul was cast out. Then he recited: (And whoever associates anything with God, it is as if he had fallen from the sky, and the birds had snatched him up or the winds had carried him to a deep place.) Then his soul is returned to his body, and two angels come to him and sit him down and say to him: Who is your Lord? Then he says: Ha, ha, I don’t know, so they say: To him: What is your religion? He says: Ha, ha, I don’t know. They say to him: Who is this man who was sent among you? So he says: Ha, ha, I don’t know. Then a caller will call from the sky, “My servant has lied, so spread a bed of fire for him and open for him a door to the fire, and its heat and poisons will come to him.” And his grave will be narrowed for him Until his ribs intersect therein, and a man with an ugly face, foul-smelling clothes, and a foul-smelling odor comes to him and says, “Read good tidings of that which will displease you. This is your day of You used to make a promise and he would say: Who are you? Your face is the face that brings evil and says: I am your evil deed. Then it says: My Lord, do not establish the Hour. A narration similar to it and adding to it: When his spirit departs, every angel between heaven and earth and every angel in heaven will pray over him and the gates of heaven will be opened for him. He is not of The people of Bab are praying to God to send His spirit upon them. And his soul, meaning the disbeliever, will be removed along with his veins. Then every angel between heaven and earth will curse him, and every angel in heaven, and the gates of heaven will be closed. There is not one of the people of a gate except them, and they pray to God that no His soul will be ashamed before them.” Narrated by Ahmad
