Sunan ad-Darimi — Hadith #53655

Abdullah bin Saleh told us, Al-Layth told me, Aqeel told me, on the authority of Ibn Shihab, on the authority of Sahl bin Saad Al-Sa’idi, may God be pleased with him, He had met the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and heard from him when he was fifteen years old when the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, died. He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: Ubayy bin Ka’b, may God be pleased with him, told me that the fatwas that they used to issue regarding his saying: “Water is from water,” A concession that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, “allowed at the beginning of Islam, then he later ordered ablution.” Abdullah said: Others said: Al-Zuhri said: Some of those who were satisfied narrated to me on the authority of Sahl bin Saad.
