أَخْبَرَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو يَعْنِي ابْنَ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَوْسٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، يَرْفَعُهُ قَالَ :" أَحَبُّ الصِّيَامِ إِلَى اللَّهِ G صِيَامُ دَاوُدَ ، كَانَ يَصُومُ يَوْمًا وَيُفْطِرُ يَوْمًا، وَأَحَبُّ الصَّلَاةِ إِلَى اللَّهِ G صَلَاةُ دَاوُدَ ، كَانَ يُصَلِّي نِصْفًا، وَيَنَامُ ثُلُثًا، وَيُسَبِّحُ سُدُسًا ".
قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّد : هَذَا اللَّفْظُ الْأَخِيرُ غَلَطٌ أَوْ خَطَأٌ، إِنَّمَا هُوَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَنَامُ نِصْفَ اللَّيْلِ وَيُصَلِّي ثُلُثَهُ، وَيُسَبِّحُ تَسْبِيحَةً
Othman bin Muhammad told us, Sufyan bin Uyaynah told us, on the authority of Amr, meaning Ibn Dinar, on the authority of Amr bin Aws, on the authority of Abdullah Ibn Amr, he narrates it. He said: “The fast most beloved to God is the fasting of David. He used to fast one day and break his fast one day, and the prayer most beloved to God was prayer.” Dawud used to pray half, sleep a third, and say the tasbih a sixth.” Abu Muhammad said: This last wording is a mistake or a mistake. He used to sleep at midnight, pray a third of the night, and recite the tasbih.
