Sunan ad-Darimi — Hadith #55271

And he was sleeping, when a man came to him and comforted him, and said: “Go and kill him,” then he said: “Does he not bear witness that there is no god but God?” Shu'bah said: Do I doubt that Muhammad is the Messenger of God? He said: Yes. He said: “I have been commanded to fight the people until they say: There is no god but Allah. If they say it, it is forbidden.” Their blood and their wealth are upon me, except by right.” He said: And he was the one who killed Abu Masoud. He said: He did not die until he had killed the best person in Taif.
