Sunan ad-Darimi — Hadith #55521

Muhammad bin Isa told us, Abdah bin Sulayman told us, on the authority of Muhammad bin Ishaq, on the authority of Yaqoub bin Utba, on the authority of Ikrimah, on the authority of Ibn Abbas said: The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, spoke the truth about Umayyah ibn Abi al-Salt in two verses of poetry, saying: A man and an ox under a man. To his right hand and the eagle to the other, a lion was watching, and the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “He has spoken the truth.” He said: And the sun rises every last night, red, and its color becomes rosy, so the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “He is right.” Someone said: She refuses, so she will not reveal to us her messengers. Unless she will be tortured or flogged, and the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: “He has spoken the truth.”
